Channel 7 News in Boston had planned to air an investigative story tomorrow night on the 11 PM news. We received a phone call today from the reporter, Caterina Bandini, who worked very hard putting this story together and interviewed 7 people for it. Seems the "Higher Ups" are worried about some "Legal Issues" and for now the story is on hold. It might be aired Friday night but Caterina didn't sound too sure about that. The owner of Channel 7, who apparently lives in Florida, is the one who put it on hold. Channel 7 is now trying to edit the story so the owner will okay it.

For those of you who don't know about this issue, here it is briefly. Dana Farber tested a product in their labs without knowing what the product was. Results were so good that they tried to buy into the company that owns the product but it wasn't for sale. Turns out they were testing 714X (which along with other natural therapies was used on our son Billy Best).

When they discovered they were testing 714X, testing stopped and they refused to reveal the results to the inventor, Gaston Naessens who had paid $2500 for this testing. Mr. Naessens took Dana Farber to court and after about a year the case was settled. The results for the lab testing were excellent, why doesn't Dana Farber want to pursue such a promising therapy?

That is what the Channel 7 news story was about. It looks like Dana Farber or the ACS "got to somebody". A fact brought out in the Alternative Therapy Seminar we sponsored last Saturday, when the American Cancer Society was formed they declared that they would "close their doors the day that a cure for cancer was found". Do you think that the ACS really wants that day to come? If enough cures for cancer are found, what will happen to their high salaries, status and federal assistance?

Please pray that the truth will come out.

Apparently Sue Best was successful in her efforts to get the story told:

1. Boston Herald April 2, 2001 article by Michael Lasalandra in Health & Fitness section,
the article is titled "Cancer survivor rips hospital's refusal to test drug `cure' ".

2. Boston Herald April 16, 2001 article by Michael Lasalandra in Local & Regional section,
the article is titled "Dana-Farber cries foul: Challenges judgment in cancer lawsuit ".

3. FoxNews25 (WXFT Boston) May 14, 2001 aired story, transcript is at http://www.fox25.com (select "News", then "Bodyworks") titled "Cancer Drug", about Dana Farber/Gaston Naessens.
The FoxNews25 transcript gave the website addresses of http://cerbe.com (CERBE is private company in Quebec, Canada, responsible for distribution of products by Gaston Naessens), http://www.geocities.com/friendswithhope and Sue's http://www.grand-strand.com/suebest site.

4. The Patriot Ledger (Boston) May 23, 2001 article "Cancer drug will get U.S. review" says Federal researchers agreed to review a controversial cancer drug that several local patients credit with halting the disease. Dana-Farber asked for the review "because we started getting a lot of questions from patients about 714x" after publicity on the drug, said spokesman Steven Singer.

5. BostonChannel.com May 29, 2001 article "Cancer Drug Getting New Attention" begins with
"A controversial cancer treatment is now getting some new attention. The National Cancer Institute has agreed to review stories from patients who say they've been helped by 714-X, a drug that is not sold in the United States." Billy attributes his recovery to 714X in the article (Essiac not mentioned):

It was 1995 when then 16-year-old Billy Best, the Norwell teen who ran away from home rather than take chemotherapy for his Hodgkin's Disease, appeared on "Good Morning America" to announce that his cancer was in remission. More than six years later, Best is fit and still cancer free. He said that he owes it all to 714-X. "I'm happy that the hospitals are willing to take another look at the treatment I used. They knew nothing about it when I first started using it. So now I feel hopeful that they'll be able to help more people," Best said.

6. Sue Best explains why essiac was not mentioned in the 714X interviews.

Every time we have been interviewed by any of the media we have stressed that Billy was on a regimen including 714X, Essiac Tea, Nutritional Changes and Vitamin Supplements. However the media's focus has been on 714X so that is what they report on. We were filmed making Essiac on one news show and Billy drinking it on another however those parts were edited. We also always credit the Lord with directing us toward the right treatments for Billy and mention how He guided us through all our confusion and kept us peaceful but that too is edited. Most people don't realize that you may be filmed for hours but only a few minutes of that filming actually makes it to television. And they often take your comments out of context. With all these negative factors we are really thanking God for all of the recent news shows done in the Boston area. They have all been very positive, especially Fox 25 and we are very happy that the reports on 714X have been fairly accurate. Hopefully a lot of people will be helped because all of this news coverage!

Best Wishes,

Sue Best
